IELTS

International English Language Testing System is the most popular and widely accepted test of English Language. More than three million candidates take IELTS annually. It is jointly owned by the British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia and Cambridge English Language Assessment.

IELTS assesses all four modules of English communication — reading, writing, listening and speaking, and is designed to reflect how a candidate use English at study, at work, and at play, in his new life abroad.

It has two types:
  • Academic-for people applying for higher education or professional registration.
  • General-for those migrating to or applying for secondary education, training programmes and work experience in an English-speaking environment.

Final Scoring is described in Bands, varying from 1 to 9.
